Laboratory of cultural experiments "Feel the Zdolbuniv"
The Feel Zdolbuniv Cultural Experiments Laboratory is a new educational and creative space created at the Zdolbuniv Local History Museum. The project combines digital technologies, art, and local history, providing young people, cultural figures, and educators with the opportunity to work with animation, 3D modeling, video, and podcasts. The laboratory has created multimedia products, digitized part of the museum's heritage, and developed new tools for promoting local history. The space serves as a point of access to modern equipment and as a center for the development of creative industries in the community.
The aim of the project was
To create an innovative cultural space in Zdolbuniv that combines digital technologies, creative practices, and local heritage, making culture accessible, modern, and attractive to youth and the community.

Key tasks
-
Set up a modern space in the museum — create comfortable conditions for learning, creativity, and experimentation with digital content.
-
Equip the laboratory with professional equipment — provide the opportunity to record podcasts, create 3D models, animations, videos, and multimedia historical products.
-
Launch an educational program — organize a series of workshops, trainings, and practical classes with the involvement of specialists.
-
Create new cultural products — animations, comics, podcasts, 3D models, and other digital materials based on the history of Zdolbuniv.
What we did
1. Space
The laboratory was set up in the premises of the Zdolbuniv Museum (50 m²), which is equipped with modern technology for working with sound, video, 3D, and animation. A laptop for editing, a 3D printer, professional photo and lighting equipment, recorders, microphones, and furniture have been purchased. The space functions as a modern educational hub and creative base for young people and cultural figures.

2. Education
Seven workshops and two two-day training sessions were held.
Participants gained skills in 3D printing, animation, podcasting, video production, working with AI, and digital technologies in culture.
Total coverage — 135+ participants.
70% confirmed a significant increase in skills, and some participants have already implemented new competencies in their own projects.
3. Digital heritage
A series of contemporary cultural products has been created:
An animated video about the history of Zdolbuniv.
Comic strip.

Podcast “A Brief History of Zdolbuniv.”
20 digitized museum exhibits.
A 3D model of St. Peter and Paul Church, printed and displayed in the museum.
These materials are integrated into educational programs, museum exhibitions, and tourist routes.
The laboratory in figures
135+ participants in educational programs
9 — workshops and training sessions
20 — digital copies of exhibits
3 — cultural products
300,000+ — social media reach
50 m² — laboratory area
100 copies — comic book print run
Our participants created dozens of works — from 3D models and podcasts to their first animations and comics. These are real learning outcomes that demonstrate how young people and cultural figures are mastering digital tools and transforming heritage into contemporary forms.
Partners and donors
The project was implemented thanks to the cooperation of the museum institution, local authorities, public organizations, and donors who support innovation in the field of culture. Each partner played a key role — from expertise and location to communications and strategic support.
Note:
The Feel Zdolbuniv Cultural Experiments Laboratory project is being implemented by the Center for Sustainable Initiatives NGO in cooperation with the Zdolbuniv Local History Museum, the NGO “Studio for the Development of the Tourist Image of Small Towns,” and the Zdolbuniv City Council, with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the Charitable Foundation “MHP-Hromadi” within the framework of the competitive program “Culture in the Focus of Communities.”
